Lagos explosion destroyed over 50 houses -NEMA

Rescue team on Thursday recovered one more body from the scene of last Sunday’s explosion in Abule Ado, Amuwo Odofin local government area of Lagos State.

The rescue team had earlier recovered 20 bodies from the scene and the latest discovery brings the death toll to 21.

The Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, who confirmed the latest recovery, said the deceased had been taken to the mortuary by the officials of Lagos State Ambulance Service, (LASAMBUS).

Other agencies that took part in Thursday’s operation were the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA), the Federal and State Fire Services, Nigerian Police Force, the military, the Red Cross, Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC) and the Special Taskforce, among others.

More than 100 out of about 500 displaced persons are currently being accommodated at the state’s Emergency Relief Camp in Igando, Ikotun-Igando Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

The state government had set up a panel to investigate the remote of the blast that also injured more than 40 people.
