Las Vegas gunman had ‘42-arm arsenal', US police say

Police in Las Vegas has revealed that Stephen Paddock, the man who killed more than 58 people when he opened fire on concert-goers in Las Vegas, had an arsenal of at least 42 weapons.

According to police account, Stephen, the suspect accused of carrying out the worst mass shooting in modern US history, fired into a crowd of concert-goers from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel.

The 64-year old suspect and millionaire former accountant was later found dead in his hotel room, and police believe he killed himself to avoid arrest after his shooting spree.

“We have recovered 23 firearms at Mandalay Bay and 19 firearms at his home in Mesquite,” Todd Fasulo, assistant sheriff, told reporters on Monday evening, a day after the shooting spree.

Mesquite is about 120km northeast of Las Vegas in the state of Nevada.

“The Las Vegas metropolitan police department is working on two fronts to process the crime scene and also investigate the motive,” Fasulo said.

“We’re hunting down and tracing down every single clue we can get in his background,” he added.

Reports say more than 22,000 people were in attendance at the concert staged as part of activities for the Route 91 country festival on the popular Las Vegas Strip in the US state of Nevada, when the gunman opened fire.
