Morocco may have crashed out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup but they did put up a fight in their last group game against Spain to draw 2-2, as Spain made it to the last 16 regardless.

The North Africans went into the game knowing no matter what the outcome is they are out, having lost their games against Iran and Portugal.

Morocco opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Khalid Boutaib made it through a dreadful mix-up between Andres Iniesta and Sergio Ramos.

But Isco equalised for Spain in the 19th minute. Iniesta exchanged passes with Diego Costa before a pass to Isco who steered high into the net.

Youssef En-Nesyri looked to have won it for Morocco when he powered in a superb header from fellow substitute Faycal Fajr’s corner 9 minutes to stoppage time.

But Aspas flicked in Dani Carvajal’s low cross to make it 2-2, following a video replay moment.

Spain emerged winners of the group on goals scored, as Portugal, runners-up, were held to a 1-1 draw by Iran.
