NADECO resurfaces, wants confab report implemented

The National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) has called on the outgoing administration of President Goodluck Jonathan to prepare a special handover note on the 2014 National conference for the incoming Muhammadu Buhari government for implementation.

Chairman of the coalition, Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu (retd.), said at a press conference in Lagos on Monday, that the Buhari government cannot effect the needed change it craves unless the resolutions of the Confab are implemented.

Kanu, who is a former military administrator of Lagos State, therefore, called on Buhari not to jettison the confab report.

He said, “NADECO calls on the outgoing government, if it is has not already done so; to compile a special handover note of the 2014 confab report as it embraces devolution of powers, true federalism, resource control and equity of states in the six geopolitical zones, as a start, and as already endorsed by the Federal Executive Council, for presentation to the President-elect and the National Assembly.

“We also urge the incoming government to send a bill to the National Assembly for the implementation of the report as a matter of urgency”.

The NADECO chairman said the result of the elections showed that Nigeria was more ethnically divided than ever, adding that implementing the report could restore Nigeria on the path of unity.

I have a suggestion, make English the only language. Ban all native languages, that is the only way we can really have a united Nigeria, if we are forced to communicate under one language, that would make dividing ourselves along ethnic lines more difficult. Abolish states and make 3 regions instead.
