Ndidi happy to score first ever Premier League goal

Super Eagles and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi was spectacular in Leicester’s 2-0 win over Stoke City as he scored his first English Premier League goal at the King Power Stadium n Saturday.

Ndidi put the England champions ahead in the 25th minute after firing a 25 yard shot which ended in the top corner past Stoke goalkeeper Lee Grant, before Jamie Vardy made it two for the home side in the 47th minute.

The win was Leicester’s fourth straight win, and Ndidi expressed his happiness that Leicester sealed the three points, as he also thanked the fans for their role in the win.

“Good win, another three points, magnificent support. Happy to score my first Premier League goal,” Ndidi wrote on his Twitter handle later after the game.

Meanwhile, Leicester City boss, Craig Shakespeare, has commended Ndidi’s superb goal, and implied that it did not come as a surprise to him as the Nigerian midfielder does have the capability to score so.

Reacting to the win, Shakespeare said Ndidi’s goal was key to Leicester’s win.

“First goal was always going to be crucial and what a goal it was,” Shakespeare said in a post-match interview.

“Ndidi has done that before. He’s got that in his locker.”

He continued as he went on to describe Vardy’s goal as very important: “Second goal vital as it gave us the platform to go on and win the game. We shored it up later, so the clean sheet is pleasing.

“Nice to get the fourth straight Premier League win, everyone deserves credit. Been tough games, but a pleasure to be involved.”
