Nigeria’s Abraham targets Chelsea first-team spot

Nigerian-born Chelsea starlet Tammy Abraham is determined to make the grade at Stamford Bridge after his storming start at Bristol City.

The England Under-21 striker has hit the ground running during his loan spell with the Robins, smashing 11 goals in 16 games.

Abraham, 19, is yet to make his first-team debut for the Blues but believes Antonio Conte will give the club’s talented crop of youngsters the chance to shine.

He told told Sky Sports:”I think with the new manager coming in the chances are there because we can see he’s been playing youngsters.

“It’s a case of when you get the opportunity you have to impress and give your all. Everyone has their time and hopefully my time will come soon.”

Abraham is yet to speak to Conte since his switch to the West Country, but Chelsea skipper Terry has been in touch.

He added: “I think he keeps up with the games and how well I’m doing then he gets back to me to say congratulations, just little things like that which obviously is a good thing for me and it gives me confidence knowing people [at Chelsea] are aware of me.” the players together.”
