In from Olumide Olaoluwa ….
The leadership crisis plaguing the Nigeria Labour Congress has been put to rest.
However former President of the Congress and Edo state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, told reporters at the end of a reconciliation meeting called by veterans of the congress that a seven man committee has been set up.
The committee headed by the founding President of the Congress, Comrade Hassan Sumonu, is empowered to iron out all issues raised by both factions.
The apex labour body was thrown into a leadership tussle after conclusion of the last delegates’ conference, which saw the emergence of two factions.
While a faction elected Comrade Ayuba Wabba in Abuja, another settled for Comrade Joseph Ajaero in Lagos.
The mandate of the Committee, Oshiomhole said said, will be to meet regularly to iron out the issues in contention until they are resolved.

“We all deeply regret all that has happened that led to the discordant voices that people were beginning to hear from among the leadership of the NLC
“Having listened to all the parties, we all agreed that there is only one NLC and at any given time, only one person can lead and others will follow.
“But leadership and followers is not a relationship between a tenant and owner. Everybody is a member of the movement.”
Oshiomhole said they have also directed that the matter before the National industrial Court should be withdrawn unconditionally because the Congress has internal mechanism to resolve its own crisis.
