NSE: Market capitalisation gains N191.134bn amidst lower trade volume

The Nigerian equity market recorded its fourth gain in a row on Friday, meaning that all the sessions for this week closed on a positive note.

However, Friday’s trade marked the lowest point in trade volume and number of deals this week.

A positive market breadth posted as there were 19 gainers against 9 losers. The All Share Index (ASI) expanded by 1.63% basis points to close at 22,921.59. The market capitalisation closed at N11.946 trillion, rising by N191.134 billion.

Year to date, the index is down by 14.61%.

TOP 5 GAINERS

PZ led the gainers’ chart today, appreciating by 10% to close at N4.40. Nascon went up by 10% to N9.35. Nigerian Breweries rose to N32.35, notching up 9.85% in the process. Conoil added 9.78% to end today’s trade at N17.40. Linkage Assurance completed the top 5, climbing by 8.70% to N0.50.

TOP 5 LOSERS

Cadbury was the worst performing stock today, declining by 10% to close at N6.30. Ardova shed 9.82% to close at N10.10. Oando fell to N2.62, losing 9.03%. UACN Property slumped to N0.82, recording 4.65% depreciation. Chams closed at N0.22, going down by 4.35%.

TOP 5 TRADES

231.605 million shares estimated at N2.610 billion were traded today in 4,521 deals.

FBN Holdings was the most active stock for today with 47.696 million units of its stocks worth N219.715 million traded in 460 deals. 36.531 million units of UBA shares priced at N220.466 million exchanged hands in 271 transactions. UBA had 32.849 million shares valued at N686.876 million traded in 503 deals. Zenith traded 29.899 million shares estimated at N455.815 million in 654 transactions. Fidelity traded 16.282 million shares valued at N33.290 million in 84 deals.
