Okorocha floors Ihedioha at Tribunal

Published

on

The Imo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has struck out the petition of Emeka Ihedioha, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party against Governor Rochas Okorocha, candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the April 11 governorship poll in Imo State.
INEC had declared Okorocha winner of the election after the exercise had been rescheduled in some local government areas.
Ihedioha, the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, had gone to the tribunal to challenge Okorocha’s victory, alleging mass irregularities and non-compliance of the election with the Electoral Act.
The tribunal, however, disagreed with the petitioner and struck out the case in its ruling on Wednesday in Owerri.
