Ondo Assembly sacks LG caretaker committees

The deputy speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr. Iroju Ogundeji was on Tuesday impeached by his colleagues during the plenary session.

Ogundeji, who represents Odigbo Constituency II in the Assembly and member of the All Progressives Congress, was removed after the speaker of the house, Mr. Bamidele Oloyeloogun, received the signature of 16 out of 28 lawmakers of the house demanding the sack of Ogundeji.

Ogundeji was amongst 18 law makers who defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC) from the People’s Democratic Party (PDp) in February 2017 when Governor Rotimi Akeredolu took over power.

During the plenary session, a replacement was immediately gotten in the person of Mr Bimbo Fajolu, who represents Ile Oluji /Oke Igbo state Constituency.

Fajolu’s nomination for deputy speaker was moved at the plenary session by Mr. Isreal Olajide, and was seconded by the former speaker, Mrs. Jumoke Akindele.

the Clerk of the House Mr. Bode Adeyelu immediately swore the new deputy speaker in.
