Ondo guber: APC announces time-table

There is the possibility that the controversies trailing the All Progressives Congress (APC), ahead of the coming governorship election in Ondo state may snowball to the party holding two different governorship primaries.

This is majorly as there has been conflicting information on the actual date of the party primaries, to select the party’s standard bearer for the November election, which initially was proposed to hold on Saturday (today), August 27 but later postponed to August 31.

However, reports from the camp of the embattled state chairman of the party, Isaacs Kekemeke is that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party had again postponed the primary election from the Wednesday August 31 date to September 3.

This information, it is learnt, has not gone down well with the camp that opposed Kekemeke’s chairmanship as they have debunked the postponement of the primary.

While the Director of Publicity of the party, Steve Otaloro, said the primary election had been postponed, the Publicity Secretary of the party, Omooba Abayomi Adesanya, in a one paragraph statement he issued, insisted the primary would still hold on Wednesday, August 31.

“Ondo State APC primary election will hold on Wednesday (31st of August) as rescheduled. Please, disregard rumour of another postponement. Thanks,” he said.

If the news of postponement of the August 31, rescheduled primaries is anything to go by, it will be the second time the primary election of the party would be shifted, having initially fixed August 27 for the primary election.
