PDP NWC may decide winner of Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency
It may be difficult for the victory claimed by Hon Ndudi Elumelu in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives primary for Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency, Delta State to stand because of the discrepancy in the process, a party chieftain has said.
There was a stalemate in the October 3 primary election instead of the victory being claimed by Elumelu, the party chief said.
The primary was between Elumelu, who is trying to return to the House which he left in 2015 after spending eight years and Joan Onyemaechi Mrakpor, who is bidding to retain her seat after a term.
There were inaccuracies in the tally of the ballot after the primary, officials said, adding that Elemelu ought not to have claimed victory.
Indications that all was not well with the voting was strengthened by figures quoted by Elumelu in which he claimed that he scored 254 votes to Mrakpor’s 242. The former lawmaker made the claim on his verified Facebook page and other media platforms.
