Police drag Innoson to court over N2.4bn alleged shipping fraud

Local car maker, Innoson Nigeria Limited, has been dragged before a Federal High Court, Lagos over alleged shipping fraud worth N2.4billion.

Aside Innoson, five others were charged before Justice Saliu Saidu. They include Innocent Chukwuma, Charles Chukwu, Maximian Chukwura, Mitsui Osk Lines and Anajekwu Sunny.

According to the charges, the accused persons altered shipping documents after presenting such as collateral to a first generation bank, Guaranty Trust Bank.

According to court papers, the offence committed in 2013, is contrary to sections 1(2) (c) and 3(6) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act, Cap M17, Laws of the Federation 2004.

According to the police, the court papers have been served on on Innoson and other defendants.

The presiding judge, Justice saidu adjourned the matter till November 25 for continuation after the defence counsels moved for it.
