Police in Anambra arrest suspected child trafficker, rescue victims
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested an individual suspected of trafficking teenagers aged 13 to 16.
Tochukwu Ikenga, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, revealed at a press briefing in Awka that the suspect had trafficked numerous teenagers to neighboring countries. Ikenga noted that some victims, who had been taken to Ghana, have been safely returned to Nigeria.
The police are continuing their search to apprehend other members of the trafficking ring.

Ikenga explained that the suspect’s arrest followed an increase in reports of missing teenagers within the state. He added that Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Itam has directed police personnel to take all necessary measures to tackle the problem.
“The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation with the police. This will assist in rescuing other victims and tracking down additional gang members,” Ikenga said.
