After a six-game winless run, Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Enugu Rangers, secured a 3-1 victory against Kano Pillars in a rescheduled matchday 9 clash at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Sunday.

First half goals by Chibuzor Madu, Chiamaka Madu and Ifeanyi George, gave the Flying Antelopes the win, as Pillars got their only goal through Adamu Mohammed also in the first half.

Chibuzor gave the home side the lead two minutes into the game from the penalty spot after George was fouled inside the box; and four minutes later Rangers went 2-0 up thanks to Chiamaka.

Just before the whistle went off for half-time, George extended Rangers lead, making it 3-0, before Pillars pulled a goal back through Mohammed in added time.

However, the 3-1 success over Kano Pillars have only taken Rangers’ points to 16, five less from safety.

The champions still remain rooted to bottom spot and still have rearranged matches to play against Wikki Tourists, Sunshine Stars, Plateau United and Gombe United.

Kano Pillars remain 12th on the log with 24 points, having played 19 games.
