Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has added his voice to the growing calls for the release of El Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, otherwise known as Shittes.

In a Twitter post on his official handle on Moday while reacting to the clash between Shittes and members of the Nigerian Police in Abuja, Fani-Kayode advised the government to release Zakzaky in order to forestall peace.

He wrote thus on Twitter; “I left Akure only to hear about the terrible violence, killings and burning that took place in the centre of Abuja today during the Shiite Muslim protest.

“I call for restraint from all sides and I advise @MBuhari to release Shiite leader Sheik El Zak Zaky before it is too late,” he added.

The clash between Shiite’s and men of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja left at least six people dead, many injured and properties destroyed as the Muslim group reportedly resorted to violent protests in Abuja and Kaduna in demand of the release of their leader, El Zakzaky and his wife.
