Relief as kidnapped VP, teacher, students breath air of freedom

The Nigerian police have confirmed the release of two students, the vice principal and a teacher of Government Model College, Igbonla, Epe in Lagos following the expiration of the 24-hour ultimatum issued by the kidnappers.

According to reports, the kidnap victims were freed at about 10.30pm in yet to be ascertained circumstance after they were abducted last week Tuesday from their school.

This brought relief to the families of the victims, especially following reports that one of the students had taken ill in the kidnappers’ custody.

Unconfirmed reports suggests that the sum of N1million ransom was paid by the family of the sick abducted student while information reaching us suggests that the other families did not pay anything to the 11-man gang that stormed the college last week.

Distressed parents of the abducted students were said to have visited the school, yesterday, and a meeting was held with management of the school.

Some parents left in the evening and a relative of one of the students, who was contacted, confirmed that their son had been reunited with them.
