Reps get N17m vehicles totalling N6.1bn for “utility services” despite harrowing recession

.House of Reps may amend SSS law

Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Abdulrazak Namdas, on Sunday disclosed that over 200 members had taken possession of brand new Peugeot 508 series for “utility services.”

Each of the vehicles cost N17m and will gulp a total of N6.1bn to supply all 360 units.

Namdas stated that the plan is to get all 360 lawmakers to take delivery of their cars by December 31 in the latest.

He said, “Over 200 have been supplied out of 360 and we are still getting more.

“Every member will get a car by the end of this year. The issue is that the payment and supply of the vehicle is being done in instalments.

“The House and the company (Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited) agreed to this arrangement of paying and supplying in instalments.

“Naturally, not all the members can get their cars at the same time and we have explained to them why this cannot be possible.”

Namdas further stated that due to delivery delays and insufficient budgetary releases to the House, a large number of lawmakers had not been able to get their cars in close to two years.

He noted that some of the funding for the cars was included in the 2017 budget.

“You know that we have not started the implementation of the 2017 budget fully.

“You will appreciate the fact that payment for these cars will come from the budget. So, that issue too is there,” he concluded.

Many Nigerians feeling the bite of the country’s worst recession in decades, would be outraged by this disclosure which fits perfectly into what many have described as a culture of waste and insensitivity predicated on extreme selfishness and utter disregard for the majority of the people.

These fools are hiding under the umbrella of reps and extorting Nigeria, a Peugeot 508 series for all lawmakers for utility service is outrageous, why can’t they convert one of their multiple cars to serve utility service for them? All of them will perish in the lagoon!

Now I think I understand why these people will never be in support of restructuring the country, if they agree to it, having cars like this will stop and some other unwarranted monies they have access to. This is too much, masses are suffering, they reps are acquiring new vehicle, where did they’ve all put their sense of care?

This is why the seats in the house and benefits of being a lawmaker should reduce. No country will grow if their lawmakers are acting like Nigeria’s. They are worst than corrupt politicians, why buy a car for utility service ? Na wa o

#17m for a car can feed 17000 people in their constituents. And those people won’t ever forget them. They can even use #1.8m to buy car for themselves and use the remaining #15m to empower youths in their constituents.
This is why we are projecting Biafra. We won’t tolerate rubbish at all.

The thing is that, we only have legislators that are bent of feeding their bellies and not the masses. But that doesn’t mean Biafra is the solution because we have igbos in the house of reps and they never rejected the car.
