Rohr, 27 other coaches paid outstanding salaries

The Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, and 27 other national team coaches have been paid their outstanding salaries by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF).

This is following the “the payment of the first batch of monies” by the Federation’s official optimum partner, Aiteo Group, which was quoted to be in the range of N100m.

The NFF had signed a partnership agreement worth N2.5 billion with the oil company in April, a deal meant to assist the paying of salaries of coaches under the football body.

In a report published on the official website of the NFF on Tuesday, kudos was given to Aiteo, as the fund provided was used to “offset all outstanding salaries of 27 coaches in all.”

Rohr was reportedly being owed five months salaries, but has now been settled according to the statement.

“The salaries of the Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Mr. Gernot Rohr, have also been settled up-to-date from the forex component of the transaction with Aiteo,” the report stated.

The NFF second Vice-President and Chairman of the NFF Sponsorship, Marketing and Television Advisory Committee, Mallam Shehu Dikko, told the website:

“We are very happy to announce that we have been able to pay a total of 27 coaches all the monies they were being owed, including some who worked with previous NFF Boards in what we termed ‘legacy payments

“It is our joy that the coaches can finally smile to the bank. A labourer deserves his wages, and that is why the present NFF administration worked assiduously hard to ensure the realization of this partnership.

“The NFF is grateful to Aiteo Group for this breakthrough in making our coaches happy.”

The coaches paid cuts across all the national teams, from those under Rohr in the Super Eagles, coaches of the Super Falcons to the coaches of the Beach Soccer team. Salisu Yusuf, Alloy Agu, Fatai Amao, David Ngodigha, Ann Chiejine, Florence Omagbemi, Perpetua Nkwocha Emeka Amadi were all on the list.

Others are, Peter Dedevbo, Toyin Ayinla, Wemimo Oni, Auwal Bashir, Manu Garba, Bala Nikyu, Lateef Yusuf, Nduka Ugbade, Jolomi Atunne Alli, Ernest Salolomo, Queen Dolyn Akpan, Adamu Audu Ejo, Godwin Okon, Justin Madugu, Gidado Usman, Bala Mohammed, Kabiru Baleria, Emmanuel Amuneke and Christopher Danjuma.

It could be that as they were still owing Rohr, he decided to make South Africa defeat us
