Saraki, other senators visit Melaye in hospital

President Bukola Saraki on Wednesday led other senators to visit embattled Senator Dino Melaye at the National Hospital Abuja, where police Tuesday night transferred him to from Zanklin Hospital.

Saraki and other senators’ visit is coming after earlier reports claimed that some senators and other visitors coming to visit Melaye were prevented from seeing him by policemen at the hospital.

Melaye was taken to Zanklin Hospital Abuja in an ambulance on Tuesday after he sustained an injury trying to escape police by jumping out of their vehicle.

He was however evacuated from the hospital by the police to National Hospital Abuja, where he was admitted to the Trauma Centre and allegedly handcuffed to a bed in the hospital.

Saraki and other senators who visited Melaye in the hospital arrived at the facility at about 1:33pm, and immediately met with the management of the hospital, before going to visit Melaye in the ward in which he was admitted.

The senators had earlier adjourned their Wednesday plenary to allow them visit their embattled colleague at the hospital.

Meanwhile, while the senators were allowed to visit Melaye, their security details and aides, who accompanied them, were prevented from entering the section of the hospital where Melaye is admitted, which is currently being‎ guarded by no less than 30 stern looking policemen.
