Senators move impeachment plot to hotel

Emerging reports suggest that senators loyal to President Muhammadu Buhari may have moved their sitting to remove the senate leadership outside the National Assembly premises.

Some of them are said to be convening at the Sheraton Hotel in Abuja to carry out the plot.

Some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators alleged that pro-government senators have converged at Sheraton Hotel Abuja to perfect their planned impeachment of the Senate President Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.

“The Senators loyal to the government are now convening in Sheraton Hotel where the illegal impeachment exercise will be commencing. You can quote me on this,” a pro-Saraki source stated.

Saraki has been under intense pressure to resign his position as Senate President since he defected from the All Progressives Congress, APC to the PDP.

Also, there have been threats of impeachment, with many PDP senators accusing the presidency and APC senators of scheming to forcefully sack him.

The Department of State Service, DSS, however laid siege on the National Assembly complex on Tuesday morning, stopping lawmakers, journalists and staff of the legislature from gaining entry into the complex.

The DSS operatives, who claimed to be acting on order from above, eventually allowed the lawmakers, who are mainly from the PDP entry. Though they have not been able to gain access into the chambers.

Reports also have it that none of the APC lawmakers have been seen at the complex, giving credence to the allegation that they are meeting in an Abuja hotel.

More details coming….
