INSECURITY: Southwest governors move to tame herdsmen

Governors of the South Western States in Nigeria have revealed the next line of action they would take, concerning the growing spate of insecurity in the region.

According to Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, there were plans in the pipeline by governors of the South West Zone to operate a joint security team to patrol the entire region, in a bid to shore up security.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Dapo Abiodun made the comments in Abeokuta on Friday at a sensitisation programme on the vision and focus of his administration, in preparation for the 2020 budget.

“A joint security team that will patrol major roads and provide adequate security to the people of the southWest region of the country will soon be set up,” he said.

Dapo Abiodun also said during the sensitisation programme that his administration was making plans to amend the laws guiding the security trust fund of the state.

Abiodun also informed that an amended Security Trust Fund Bill would soon be forwarded to the state House of Assembly for legislative action.
