Success of convention shouldn’t be mistaken for peace within APC –nPDP warns

The New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) bloc within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned that the supposed success recorded at the national convention of the ruling party on Saturday should not be celebrated yet.

The leader of the nPDP, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, who stated this in a statement after the party’s convention on Saturday, said that the national convention though progressed well, should not be “mistaken for peace” within APC.

He further explained that the reason members of the nPDP attended the convention was to prove that they are still loyal to the ruling APC.

The statement which Baraje released through his media office in Ilorin, noted that the foundation of the convention was already shaking, adding that the APC should not ignore the grievances of aggrieved party members and stakeholders.

He also regretted the situation the convention was held not minding the fact that there were lawsuits in court against the party arising from parallel primaries in over 18 states of the federation.

“We still believe that our loyalty should be demonstrated. That is why we attended the convention. The fact that we attended the APC convention and the convention was progressing well, should not be mistaken for peace within the party,” the statement partly read.
