KOGI: Melaye denies eyeing deputy governor ticket

The controversial All Progressives Congress (APC) senator, who represents Kogi West senatorial district at the Senate, Dino Melaye, has said that the obituary of the party has started.

Melaye stated this in response to the national convention of the party at the Eagles Square in Abuja, where the former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, emerged unopposed as the party’s new national chairman.

Melaye, in a post on his Instagram page described the convention as a joke and the commencement of the “political obituary” of the APC.

He said, “Happy to be away from the joke going on in Naija today (Saturday).

Quoting from a song by late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti,, Melaye added, “Political obituary of APC activated. Egbekegbe na bad society…beast of no nation…egbekegbe…”

Apparently following the experience he had with the Nigerian Police over alleged involvement in gunrunning, Melaye recently relocated his seat from the APC section of the Senate chamber to that of the opposition and minority Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He remains one of the vocal critics of his APC party and the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
