Super Eagles striker Ideye joins Mikel in China

Super Eagles and former West Brom striker Brown Ideye has made a switch from Greece to China to join his Nigerian team-mate and captain John Mikel Obi at Tianjin Teda.

The transfer which is worth 12 Million Euros would provide a salary of about 3.4 million euros every season, which makes Ideye the sixth highest paid Nigerian player.

The 28-year old, who has been on Tianjin Teda’s radar before the close of the transfer window in January, has been at Olympiacos since the summer of 2015 after joining the club following a disappointing one-year spell in the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion.

At West Brom, Ideye did not perform to expectations, scoring just seven goals in thirty-one appearances in all competitions; but brought his career back on track at Olympiakos, scoring 13 goals in his debut season to help his side win the Greek Super League and was already on 15 goals in all competition this season before the transfer.

Chinese Super League transfer window closes later this week, ahead of the start of the new season next month, and Ideye now adds to a good number of world class players that moved to the Asian state this year.
