Texas cop charged for killing 15-yr-old black teen

A white Texas cop identified as Roy Oliver, 37, has been charged with murder after shooting and killing a 15-year-old teenager, Jordan Edwards.

According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, the cop who has now been fired from his job turned himself in after a warrant for his arrest was issued on Friday.

He was charged over the April 29 shooting of the 15-year-old in the Dallas suburb of Balch Springs after firing a rifle at a car of teenagers leaving a party, striking and killing Edwards.

Reports say Edwards and his two brothers and two other teenagers were driving away from an unruly house party in Balch Springs late on Saturday night when Oliver opened fire on their vehicle.

In a statement, the sheriff’s office cited evidence that suggested Oliver “intended to cause serious bodily injury and commit an act clearly dangerous to human life that caused the death”.
