Tinubu wins Lagos senatorial seat, again

The senator representing Lagos Central senatorial district, Remi Tinubu has again won the election to return to the Senate.

Professor Oyeyemi Oyedola, the INEC returning officer on Monday, said Tinubu, of All Progressive Congress (APC) gained 131,735 votes to defeat Onitiri David of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who polled 89,107 votes.

Making the declaration, Prof. Oyedola said:

“l, Professor Oyeyemi Elijah Oyedola, hereby certify that as the retuning officer, Lagos Central Senatorial District with the election held on 23 of February, 2019 that the election was contested among 14 candidates.

“I declare that Tinubu Oluremi Shade of the APC has satisfied the requirements of law and scoring the highest number of votes, hereby declared the winner and returned elected having polled 131,735 votes,” he said.

Mr Sodiq Abubakar, INEC Electoral Officer in Lagos Island, who lauded the efforts of security agents said that no causality was recorded during the period of the election and urged the stakeholders to keep up the good work.

According to reports, the election was conducted in five local government areas namely; Lagos Island, Eti-Osa, Apapa, Surulere and Mainland.
