Top govt officials welcome Super Eagles on arrival from Egypt

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have arrived Abuja from Egypt on Friday afternoon and were welcomed by top government officials.

The team finished in third place at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after defeating the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia 1-0 in the playoff on Wednesday.

“We’re here! #SoarSuperEagles,” a tweet on the official Twitter handle of the Super Eagles read.

“Big Thank you to our wonderful @NGRPresident His Excellency @MBuhari who was represented by the SGF and other top dignitaries for giving us a rousing welcome from Egypt. #SoarSuperEagles.”

The players and their officials of the national team left the Cairo International Airport in the early hours of Friday morning and arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around noon.

The AFCON final is set to hold tonight (Friday) in Cairo by 8:00p.m Nigeria time.
