Toxic agent used to kill Kim Jong-nam, Malaysia police say

Further investigation into the murder of Kim Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean President Kim Jong-Un, reveals that VX nerve agent, a chemical on a U.N. list of weapons of mass destruction, was used to kill him.

Jong-nam died after he was attacked with a chemical substance by two suspected female agents.

Malaysia police preliminary analysis from the chemistry Department revealed that the nerve agent which was found on the face of Kim Jong-nam before he died at an undisclosed hospital was administered on the late half-brother of Kim Jong-Un.

Police officials are now making findings as to how the nerve agent was brought into the country or if it was made there, as authorities were seen sweeping the airport and other locations for radioactive material.

“If the amount of the chemical brought in was small, it would be difficult for us to detect,” Police Chief Khalid Abu Bakar told reporters.

Thus far, three suspects; two female, one an Indonesian and the other carrying Vietnamese travel documents, and a North Korean man identified as Ri Jong Chol, born on May 6, 1970 have already been arrested.

Malaysia police are also seeking seven other North Koreans wanted in connection with the case, including a diplomat at the embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
