Newton Agbofodoh, the traditional head of Ekpan community in Uvwie Kingdom will die by hanging for allegedly killing one Mr. John Mogidi.

The fate of the traditional head was sealed following a ruling by a Delta State High Court which sat in Asaba.

While delivering his judgment, the presiding judge sentenced Agbofodo to 14 years imprisonment on conspiracy to commit murder and death by hanging on count two while on count three, the judge ruled that the former traditional leader be kept behind bars for seven years, and 21 years imprisonment on count four which is for attempted murder.

Reports say the deceased and the convict were at loggerheads over the leadership of the community youth group which later resulted in threats by the community head to kill Mogidi.

However, the deceased was reportedly waylaid and killed by assassins days after the threats which led to the arrest and trial of the traditional head.
