Three Turkish diplomats have been shot dead at a restaurant in the Iraqi Kurdish city of Erbil, security sources have told Aljazeera.
Turkey’s deputy consul, who was said to have been dining with two other diplomats, is reportedly among the dead.
Sources say the gunmen fled the scene and Kurdish security forces have closed off the surrounding area.
No-one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
In recent weeks, Turkey has been carrying out cross-border operations against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the Hakurk region of northern Iraq.
