Two new COVID-19 laboratories activated in Lagos, Ogun

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday said two laboratories with capacity for COVID-19 testing have been activated in Lagos and Ogun states.

The NCDC made the disclosure on its Twitter handle, adding that the two centres bring the total number of testing laboratories in the country to 17.

NCDC tweeted: “We are pleased to announce the inclusion of two new laboratories in Lagos and Ogun, established by 54gene in collaboration with the state governments and the NCDC.

“This brings the number of laboratories in our molecular laboratory network to 17 and expands national testing capacity.”

Testing capacity of the country has been a major concern for many, as the NCDC, according to its latest data, had only been able to carry out 12,004 tests, out of which 1337 turned out positive.
