Upset! Murray crashes out of Madrid Open

World number one tennis superstar Andy Murray is out of the Madrid Open after losing a last-16 clash to Borna Coric in straight sets.

Ranked 59th in the world, Coric, who secured his first ATP Tour title in Morocco last month, won 6-3 6-3 on Thursday at the Manolo Santana.

The 20-year-old broke Murray three times in the opening set, and a further break in the second was enough to secure victory.

Murray, 29, who lost in the last 16 of the Monte Carlo Masters last month, and was then beaten by Thiem in the semi-finals of the Barcelona Open, looked frustrated throughout the game as his woes on clay continue.

However, Coric will face either Grigor Dimitrov or Dominic Thiem in the quarter-finals.
