US comedian under investigation over anti-Trump joke

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is investigating US comedian Stephen Colbert over ‘homophobic’ anti- Donald Trump jokes he cracked in one of his monologues.

According to FCC’s chairman Ajit Pai several complaints about the monologue have been received which some viewers branded homophobic.

Pai said they are concerned about the crude sexual references involving Mr Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

“We have received a number of complaints,” Mr Pai said. “We’ll follow the standard operating procedures, as we always do, and make sure we evaluate what the facts are and apply the law fairly and fully.”

However, Colbert, the Late Show host has declined to apologise for his monologue but said that he would change “some of the words” in the monologue but did not regret it.
