Why we’ve been conducting inconclusive elections – INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Tuesday, said it has been conducting inconclusive elections because it wanted every polling unit to be accounted for.
The electoral body also said it has evolved a “Road map” that would ensure a smooth conduct of the governorship election in Edo State.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, stated this at a dialogue session between the commission and over 60 Civil Society Groups involved in election monitoring
According to him, politicians should be blamed for the recurring cases of inconclusive elections in the country.

Yakubu, who was represented by INEC National Commissioner, Mrs. Amina Zakari, said: “The concept of inconclusive election is that every polling unit must be accounted for”.
He further stated that elections in Nigeria has become “too tight and keenly contested”, such that the commission can no longer declare anybody winner when result from even a single polling unit is cancelled.
“It is most regrettable that aside sponsoring violence, ballot snatching, mutilation of election results and other vices, politician are also trying to take over election in the field”, Yakubu argued.
