Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer produced an exciting semifinal clash at Wimbledon but it’s Federer who will face Novak Djokovic in final.

Federer reaches his 12 Wimbledon final and 31st Grand Slam final by defeating rival Nadal 7-6 1-6 6-3 6-4.

The win was Federer’s 6th victory over Nadal in their last 7 meetings.

The Swiss now moved to within one win of a record-equalling ninth Wimbledon singles title.

“I’m exhausted. It was tough – at the end Rafa played some unbelievable shots to stay in the match,” 37-year-old Federer said after the win.

“I had spells where I was serving very well and probably the biggest points in the match went my way.

“That first set was huge, to get the lead and try to protect it. It was a joy to play.”

Defending champion Djokovic had earlier on Friday defied a mid-match slump to secure a four-set victory over Roberto Bautista Agut.

The Serb beat Spain’s Agut 6-2 4-6 6-3 6-2 to reach his 25th Grand Slam final.

Federer faces Djokovic in the final on Sunday.
