The continued agitation for the immediate release of the Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu by members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) group has halted business activities in and around the city of Aba in Abia State reports say.

The group also affected business activities in Onitsha, Anambra State and parts of Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The pro-Biafra demonstrators seized the Asaba- Onitsha bridge this morning creating a traffic jam that left vehicles at a standstill for hours as soldiers have barricaded the bridge.

The group had earlier warned traders especially not to open for business today as they continue to agitate for the release of their leader Nnamdi Kanu who is expected to appear in court today.

In Aba IPOB members numbering over seven thousand it was gathered visited Ariaria International, Ngwa road, Cemetery and Ekeoha markets with public address system announcing to the traders to shut their shops for business today.

The group members mobilized from Onitsha, Asaba, Awka, Ekwulobia, Awka-Etiti, Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi and Abia states, converging at Nnewi from where they marched to the house of the late Ikemba Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu to ask for his blessing even in death.

The fresh round of protest is coming after constitutional lawyer Professor Ben Nwabueze (SAN) chided the group calling for them to have a rethink over renewed agitation for a Biafran state.
