2 months to Oct 1 quit notice deadline, Sen Abaribe insists Ndigbo going nowhere

Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe has added his voice to the raging controversy over a quit notice issued to Ndigbo living in the north of Nigeria.

Two months to the expiration of the ultimatum to Ndigbo living in all northern states to vacate the region, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator representing Abia South senatorial district, has like many other Igbos said the people are going nowhere.

A coalition of northern youths had about a month ago ordered Igbos in the 19 northern states to peacefully vacate the region on or before October 1 or be forced out.

With the support of some of their notable leaders, the Arewa youths have held and maintained their position despite an outcry against the order by many Nigerians and different calls for their arrest.

However Senator Enyinnaya, who spoke in Abuja on Friday at the unveiling of a high-end estate at Durumi District of FCT, could not but reject the quit notice handed to Ndigbo in the North considering how the people of South-East part of Nigeria have continued to invest outside their geopolitical zone.

Describing the act by Ndigbo as eloquently demonstrating their abiding faith in the unity and corporate existence of Nigeria, the senator urged all Ndigbo to remain committed to the development of the country and vowed, “we are going nowhere.”
