2019: Gov Ayade may shun second term following wife’s advice

There are indications that Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade, may shun seeking re-election for a second term in 2019 following the advice of his wife, Dr. Linda Ayade.

The governor revealed his wife’s strong opposition against him seeking for re-election on Friday during the formal commissioning of the office building of the umbrella organization for all women associations in the state, Cross River Women Emancipation Initiative (CROWEI).

The governor, who spoke during the commissioning of the office established by his wife, and facilitated by the state’s ministry for women affairs, said, “My wife cautioned me about seeking re-election for 2019.”

He explained that “she has been worried over the type of unwholesome politics played in the state and was therefore wondering that it (the husband seeking re-election) was going to endanger him or dent his hard earned reputation.”

According Ayade, the wife who works as a medical doctor in London, prefers that he finished his one term in office and shun seeking for a re-election, since he (the governor), is a very sincere and humane person, who should not dabble into dirty politics.
