Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) Worldwide has scheduled to visit some Nigerians over its stand that Ndigbo should be allowed to produce the next president of Nigeria.

The Council said it would visit especially, those Nigerians who had remained critics of a president of Igbo extraction like Second Republic lawmaker, Junaid Mohammed, Professor Ango Abdullahi and several others.

This was contained in a statement the group’s deputy president general, Comrade Obinna Achionye and secretary general, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, signed and made available to Ripples Nigeria.

According to the group, its National Committee on 2023 Igbo Presidency Project, led by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, would champion the visits.

The statement read in part, “After due consultations with all the 69 OYC affiliated groups, students union leaders, opinion and community based leaders, respected and eruduite statesmen, Igbo traditional rulers, religious leaders, women leaders and importantly our politicians, it’s collectively resolved that Mazi Okechukwu isiguzoro should head the 27 Man-2023 National Committee on Igbo presidency project, with a clear mandate to reach out to all and sundry, especially, those detractors who are yet to see why their zones shouldn’t hold on to power beyond 2023.”

Aside Abdullahi and Mohammed, others the group listed it would also visit include “ACF (Arewa Consultative Forum) scribe, Sani, FFK, Coalition of Northern Groups and other critics, as well as those who had openly declared support for the Igbo presidency struggle.”

The group also lauded Nigerians “irrespective of tribe and religion, who had acknowledged for equity, justice and fairness to reign, for proper integration and foster unity and maintain healthy democracy and respect the gentleman agreement on rotational presidency, that South East should be encouraged to adopt the Yoruba Model of 1999, and northern model of 2019 where major political parties in 1999 adopted all Yoruba candidates, and in 2019 where PDP and APC featured all northern presidential candidates.”

It added, “What’s good for the goose is also good for the gander, a Nigerian President of Igbo stock is on the right track, and we had activated unity of purpose among the ranks and files, stakeholders of Igbos. We acknowledged there might be pockets of opposition, but that’s the beauty of democracy.”
