2023 PRESIDENCY: Ndigbo’ll present a current S’East gov to end IPOB activities —Ohanaeze Youths

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide on Wednesday said that choosing a politician from South East as president of Nigeria in 2023, will bring an end to the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The president-general Ohanaeze of the group, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro stated this in a statement he made available to newsmen on Wednesday.

IPOB, whose activities have since been proscribed by the Nigerian Government has been agitating for the independent of Biafra from the Nigerian State.

The group recently attacked a former deputy president of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and also threatened to attack President Muhammadu Buhari.

In the statement, Okechukwu said that agitations by the group came as a result of the marginalisation of the people of the South East.

He, therefore, said that the people of the region should be compensated in 2023 with the position of presidency, as was supposedly done to other regions of the country when their people engaged in protests.

He meanwhile, hinted that the South-East will present one of the current governors in the region as its presidential candidate and a northern vice president, a move he reiterated, would end current activities of IPOB.

The statement reads, “IPOB activities will bring the realization of Nigeria President of Igbo stock. Nigerians might opt for full compensation for the marginalized South East by voting en-mass for an Igbo to emerge as President in 2023 as they compensated the Yorubas in 1999.

“When OPC, NADECO and Abiola issue came up, Nigerians compensated Yorubas by voting Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as President

“We understood that the activities of Niger Delta militants led to Dr Good luck Jonathan becoming Vice President and later President. I was used to quelling the situation. We equally know how Boko Haram insecurity led to the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari. So what’s good for the Goose is also good for the Gander.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide assures Nigerians especially Arewa Consultative Forum, Northern Elders Forum, and Coalition of Northern groups, that we are determined to seal our aged longed relationship as old allies since 1960 as we commence our consultation meetings soon.

“That Igbo Presidency 2023 with a Northerner as Vice President will end the activities of IPOB. Igbo will present one of the current South-East Governors as a worthy successor of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.”
