3 dead as ship sinks off Indonesian island

A ship conveying up to 122 people capsized after being caught in rough seas off the Indonesian island of Sulawesi.
Reports say the ship was attempting to make the crossing from Kolaka to Siwa when it got caught up in a storm.

Rescue operations are ongoing in an attempt to rescue more than a 100 people who were aboard the ship.

As of Monday, 45 people had been recovered — though three had died — according to Indonesia’s Disaster Management Agency.
Authorities battled huge waves Sunday night attempting the rescue operation on the ship, which capsized about 12 miles from Siwa, a police spokesman said.
