3 suspects held in slaying of Mexican mayor

The police in Mexico are possibly close to identifying the culprits behind the killing of the newly inaugurated mayor just hours later with three suspects, including a minor, arrested on Sunday.

Following the killing of Temixco Mayor Gisela Mota, Morelos Governor, Graco Ramirez ordered flags on state buildings flown at half-mast and called for three days of mourning.

He blamed organized crime for killing the 33-year-old Mota, a former federal congress woman who had been sworn in as mayor the day before she was gunned down in her home Saturday morning.

Also, Ramon Castro Castro, Roman Catholic bishop of Cuernavaca, celebrated Mass at Mota’s home Sunday and later spoke critically of a state where some areas are in control of organized crime.
