In from Nifemi Daniel …
Nigerian women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, on Thursday qualified for the final of the women event after their heroic 61-59 victory over favourites, Angola, at the 11th All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville.
Nigeria commenced the game with a 22-20 points lead in the first quarter while the Angolans outscored D’Tigress in the second quarter with 16-12 points to end the first half with 36-34 points lead against Nigeria.
The coach Scot Nnaji-led team’s effort in the third quarter failed to yield positive results as the Southern Africans ensured they took advantage of the quarter to open the gap against Nigeria.

But the last quarter was clearly in favour of D’Tigress who doubled their efforts to ensure they moved to the final of the tournament.
The girls won the quarter 17-10 points to finish the game with 61-59 points.
It would be recalled that the male basketball team, the D’Tigers lost 61-60 narrowly to Egypt on Wednesday.
