Angered by anti-workers stance by three government officials, the Adamawa state civil servants on Tuesday shut the entrance to state government house for several hours, demanding the sack of the officials.

The officials are the Chairman of the Adamawa State Primary Healthcare Agency (ASPHA), Dr Abdullahi Belel, Executive Secretary Adamawa State Post Primary School Board, Mallam Abdullahi Jingi and the General Manager of Adamawa State Transport Company, Mr Ahmed Nyako.

The civil servants led by the state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr Dauda Maina, protested in front of the Government House Yola calling for the removal of the three government officials from office.

Maina, also alleged that the on-going health workers strike in the state was caused by Dr Belel, adding that Jingi and Nyako are also engaged on persecuting their workers and “we want them removed before they ruin the good image of this government.”

Addressing the workers, the state Secretary to the Government, Dr Umar Bindir, said the governor had travelled to Abuja.

“I will be joining him and will communicate your message and demands to him. I want to assure you that by next week when the governor returns from the meeting of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) in Kaduna, the matter will be looked into,” Bindir said.
