U-23 Eagles coach, Imama Amapakabo has praised his boys for a job well done during their Africa Cup of Nations (U-23 AFCON) qualifying tie against Libya.

The Olympic Eagles, who were beaten 2-0 away in Tunisia, overturned the deficit in the second leg as they thrashed the Libyans 4-0 in Asaba on Monday.

Victor Osimhen scored a hattrick and also assisted David Okereke to get the fourth.

The team will continue in their race to reach the finals, with one final round of qualifiers left.

Amapakabo, who has been blessed with a star-studded team, is certain that his wards will maintain the same spirit ahead of their next encounter.

“We knew nothing about the Libyans in the first leg and paid for it,“Amakpakabo said during his post-match interview.

“The players came out stronger in this game especially in the second half against a defensive team and I am proud at how they got the job done.”

“We will maintain the same spirit ahead of the next qualifiers.”

Nigeria will face the winner of the tie between Sudan and Kenya in the final round.

The Eagles are defending champions of the competition which they won in Senegal in 2016.

The tournament will be hosted by Egypt in November this year, and will determine the teams that will represent Africa at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
