The entire national football team of Tanzania have bagged a piece of land each for themselves after they qualified for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Taifa Stars, led by former Nigeria International Emmanuel Amuneke, thrashed Uganada 3-0 in their final qualifier on Sunday.

The win helped them finish second in Group L and reach the finals of the competition for the first time since 1980.

As quoted by ITV Tanzania, the president of the East African nation, John Pombe Magufuli has promised the playing unit a piece of land each.

“I didn’t have a plan to call the team to State House because they lost to Lesotho, a small country,” said Magufuli.

“On the Matchday (against Uganada), I opted to watch the game from home as I was afraid, we would be embarrassed again. But all the pain is gone now after the win over Uganda.

“These players have impressed me, and I think they deserve a reward. I am going to award them on behalf of the whole nation.

“The playing unit will get a piece of land in Dodoma where they will build their houses.

“Qualifying for Afcon is just the beginning of the fight, all the Tanzanians are happy and I would like to congratulate them for the support and patriotism which they showed during the match.”

This year’s AFCON will be a battle of 24 teams and will be hosted by Egypt in June.
