An aircraft carrying seven people, including a French patient, went down off the coast of Senegal at 7:08 p.m. (1908 GMT) on Saturday.

The medical evacuation plane disappeared west of Senegal during a flight from Burkina Faso to Dakar, the Senegalese civil aviation authority said in a statement on Sunday.

Officials said the plane was carrying a Senegalese doctor, two nurses, three crew members, two Algerians and one Congolese, apart from the patient.

The plane, which had been scheduled to arrive in Dakar at 18:20, belonged to the private Senegalair company.

The Senegalese civil aviation authority said a technical investigation would be launched for further details.

Senegal’s air force was already conducting a search for the wreckage of the plane.
