ALLEGED ASSAULT: Oluwo laughs off 6 months suspension by Osun State Traditional Rulers’ Council

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has been ordered by an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court to appear before it in person for the hearing of his case of alleged assault on Agbowu of Ogbaagba, Oba Dirkrullahi Akinropo.

Soji Oyetola, counsel to Oba Akinropo who addressed the court presided over by Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara when the matter came up urged the court to issue a bench warrant for Oluwo’s arrest over his failure to appear before the court.

Counsel to Oba Akinropo said that the defendant was duly served with the court process and should have appeared in person.

But in a counter-argument, lawyer for the Oluwo, Tiamiyu Adegboyega, said the application was served on the office of his client around 12.45 pm on March 18.

He claimed that the monarch had not been informed and served the process personally urging the court to discountenance the application for bench warrant for the Oluwo’s arrest, saying it had no basis in law.

After listening to the argument and counter-argument of the counsels of the plaintiff and the defendant, Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara ruled that Oba Akanbi should appear before the court in person on April 3 when the matter would come up again for hearing again.

Ayilara ordered that a hearing notice should also be forwarded to Oba Akanbi’s verifiable phone number ruled that Oba Akanbi should appear before the court in person next month when the matter would come up again.
