AMAECHI: APC didn't promise to fix Nigeria in one year

Nigerians seeking a quick fix to the myriad of challenges confronting the country have been told again to wait a little longer.

The Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, justified his call on grounds that one year was too short a time to implant any radical changes on the economy.

Reminding Nigerians that the Buhari-led administration and the All Progressives Congress (APC) party were given a four-year mandate, Amaechi said it would be unfair to rate the administration’s performance on the strength of what has happened in one year.

“We did not promise you that those challenges will be solved in one year; if we promised you that, you would have given us one year.
“You gave us your mandate for four years, so you have to wait till the end of four years,” he said.

Amaechi also noted that the Federal Government has secured $7.5 billion loan for the construction of standard rail gauge from Lagos to Kano. The facility is believed to be part of the $30 billion loan being sought from the Chinese government.

The Minister spoke on Monday in Ilorin at the North Central Town Hall meeting which also had the governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed and Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, in attendance.

Amaechi’s position on timeline for government deliverables comes on the heels of popular protests that rocked parts of the country on Monday. Led by a civil society organization, Enough is Enough (EiE), the protesters demanded good governance and palliatives to the excruciating hardship in the country.

God bless Amaechi for this, it is very important we remind ourselves Buhari-led government is a four-year term, not two not three. Before anyone can say Buhari’s administration is bad, he has to complete his tenure

If the start of buhari government is bad that shows the end will also be bad

APC’s government is known for making excuses for everything. This is how it starts, we cannot fold our hands and watch Nigeria become terribly bad until we speak up, this country is becoming unbearable and the increase in poverty rate is now unbelievable. I don’t think Amaechi understands what it means to be suffering, if he does, he’d know APC’s government is suffering Nigerians already

First time Amaechi is talking about the state of the nation in a very naughty manner. So how long can it take a government to deliver the positive changes they vowed to offer?
By next year now, they will start talking about another election and concentration will be on that. Whatever apc has to offer , must be done this year.

        Lol. You spoke in irony.
But sincerely, does buhari and his apc cohorts have the fear of God in hearts? Because if they do, they would know things are getting worse. Even primary school students are feeling the brunt of the economy. Exercise books of #20 then is now #80 , pencil is #20. Food stuffs is trippling in price daily. We have entered the one chance government already.

Amaechi is one of the few Ministers I respect under this administration. At the Town Hall meeting yesterday at Kwara, I listened to his plans and understood that in no time, things will really get better in this country.
Nigerians only needs to learn to be patient. Patience is something required at this moment for improvement to happen.

Fairy tales! Amaechi tell that story to the gods. I can see the APC new mantra “change begins with you” is no longer working. I will advice you to remain mute if you don’t have any reasonable lie (paradox) to tell us this time.
